Burnbuddi ("we") is a platform for finding sports groups, opening play sessions, and chatting with nearby players. This policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your data.

1. Data we collect

• Account data: phone number (for sign-in verification), display name/username
• Profile data (optional): profile photo, gender, skill rank per sport, bio
• Location: used "while in use" to show nearby clubs/sessions on the map — you can decline in device settings
• Photos: when you choose a profile photo or club logo from your library/camera
• Content you create: clubs, sessions, in-session chat messages, +1 requests, bookmarks
• Google/Apple sign-in data: name, email, and an account identifier
• Device data for notifications: push tokens (FCM/APNs)

2. How we use your data

• Create and manage your account; verify identity by phone number
• Show clubs/sessions near your location and let you open/join sessions
• Send notifications (+1 requests, chat messages, upcoming sessions)
• Prevent abuse and keep the service safe
• Review content and chat messages, including via automated systems and AI, to detect spam, rule violations, and unusual activity

3. Sharing and third-party providers

We do not sell your data. We use these providers to run the app:

• Google Firebase (Authentication, Firestore, Storage, Cloud Functions, Cloud Messaging) — data storage and notifications
• Google Maps — maps and club locations
• Apple — "Sign in with Apple" on iOS (Google sign-in uses Google Firebase above)

Some data (display name, profile photo, skill rank, in-session chat messages) is visible to other users in the relevant clubs/sessions.

In-session chat is semi-public and NOT end-to-end encrypted: messages in a session can be seen by anyone viewing that session, including people who have not joined yet / are considering the queue (like talking out loud in a public place) — please do not share private or confidential information in chat. Our team can also access and review messages, including via automated systems and AI, for safety and to detect rule violations, spam, or unusual activity.

4. Retention and security

We keep data only as long as needed to provide the service. Each session's chat stops accepting new messages after the session ends, but sent messages may be retained for safety and moderation (including automated/AI review). We take reasonable measures to protect your data, but no system is 100% secure, and chat is not end-to-end encrypted.

5. Your rights & account deletion

You can edit your profile in the app and delete your account with its associated data via Settings → Delete Account, or by emailing support@burnbuddi.app. We will process deletion within a reasonable time.

6. Children

This app is not directed to children under 13.

7. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time and will update the effective date above.
